Swami Dayananda Saraswati
Swami Dayananda Saraswati is a great visionary, profound thinker, writer and one of the foremost masters of Vedanta. He is at home with most classical of scholars as well as contemporary youth. He has established 4 “gurukulams”, teaching centres, and many more across the globe through his students. He is acutely sensitive to the needs of Indian society, having grown up in a small village in the Kaveri delta in Tamil Nadu. It has made him appreciate and empathize with problems faced in rural areas such as lack of good education, health care, and thereby lack of employment opportunities. His concern for the people and future of the country led him to initiate a movement called AIM for SEVA.
He has initiated and participated in international forums such as:
- Hindu – Buddist Meet, Cambodia, 2009
- Hindu Jewish Leadership Summit, in New Delhi, February 2007
- Global Peace Initiative of Women Religious and Spiritual Leaders, in Geneva, October 2002
- World Council for Preservation of Religious Diversity, in Bangkok, June 2002
- United Nations – The Millennium World Peace Summit, at UN General Assembly Hall, September 2000
All India Movement (AIM) for SEVA was started in 2000 by Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
Registered in New Delhi, AIM for SEVA is an independent public charitable trust committed to reach out and care for people who need help. It is a movement of caring, caring for all, irrespective of religion, community and nationality. It started as a program for integrated community development, and soon gathered momentum to become a nationwide movement, touching the lives of over 10 Million rural and tribal people across 15 states of India.
The organization has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
AIM for SEVA creates a world of caring and compassion for all those in need, particularly in the field of education and health care. We reach out to children from underprivileged sections of our society who do not have access to good education and therefore denied opportunities for a better future. Living as they are in tribal, rural or hilly regions, schools are often inaccessible. Moreover, meager income and lack of awareness, force them to seek employment. We provide the children a clean living environment, nutritious food, uniforms, schooling needs, value based education, extra-curricular activities and more. Our objective is to help today’s children become responsible citizens of tomorrow and contribute to their family, society and country.
Besides education, AIM for SEVA focuses on primary healthcare through hospitals, clinics and mobile medical units. In health care, we have reached out to over 2 Million people.
